The PM Vishwakarma Yojana offers training, ₹15,000 for tools, and loans of up to ₹3 lakh to artisans engaged in 18 types of traditional trades. However, meeting specific eligibility criteria is mandatory to avail of the scheme's benefits.

If you are a skilled artisan working with your hands and wish to benefit from the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, the government provides assistance such as training, funds for purchasing tools, and low-interest loans. However, not every artisan is eligible; certain individuals are excluded from the scheme. Read on to find out who cannot avail of the benefits and to check if you happen to be on that list.

The PM Vishwakarma Yojana covers 18 types of traditional trades. These include professions such as carpenters, boat makers, blacksmiths, locksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, and masons. Additionally, the scheme includes weapon makers, hammer and tool makers, stone carvers, and sculptors.

Artisans such as cobblers and shoemakers; makers of baskets, mats, and brooms; makers of traditional dolls and toys; barbers; garland makers; washermen; tailors; and fishing net makers can also avail of these benefits.

Who will not receive the benefits?

If an individual is not associated with any of the 18 trades covered by the scheme, they cannot avail of the benefits of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and actively engaged in the relevant trade at the time of application.

Furthermore, only one person per family can avail of the benefits of this scheme. A family is defined as comprising the husband, wife, and unmarried children. Individuals holding government jobs and their family members are not eligible for this scheme. An individual is ineligible for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana if they have availed benefits from similar loan schemes offered by the central or state governments within the last five years. However, different rules apply to those who have fully repaid loans taken under MUDRA and PM SVANidhi.

Financial Support Alongside Training

Beneficiaries of the scheme receive training relevant to their trade. A daily stipend of ₹500 is provided during the basic training period. Additionally, financial assistance of up to ₹15,000 is granted for the purchase of essential tools required for their work.

Artisans can avail a loan of up to ₹3 lakh under the scheme to expand their business. This loan is disbursed in two installments: the first installment offers up to ₹1 lakh for a tenure of 18 months, and upon its repayment, a second installment of up to ₹2 lakh can be availed for a tenure of 30 months.
