Jwala Gutta has been one of the best badminton players of India. She has not only represented India at the international level in mixed and women's doubles formats, but has also won medals for the country. Gutta was born on 7 September 1983 in Wardha, Maharashtra. His mother is of Chinese origin, while his father is of Telugu origin from India.

Jwala, who was famous as a glamor girl in Indian badminton, was sent by her father to badminton coach S. at the age of just 4. He was introduced to M Arif and somewhere from there his journey started.

If we look at Gutta's playing technique, he is considered dangerous in the front court. His smash from the back court is also tremendous. She also did the drop brilliantly.

Fourteen-time national champion Gutta played with Shruti Kurian early in her career, but found more international success with Ashwini Ponnappa. The pairing of Gutta and Ponnappa was very popular at the international level. The pair consistently featured in the top-twenty of the BWF World Rankings and reached No. 10 in 2015.

Gutta is the first badminton player of Indian origin to qualify for two events at the Olympics – women's doubles with Ponnappa and mixed doubles with V. Diju in London.

Gutta, who created a craze for badminton among young girls, won bronze in women's doubles at the 2011 World Championships, gold in women's doubles and silver in mixed team at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and silver in women's doubles at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Won a bronze medal in the Asian Championship held in Incheon in 2014.

Gutta has won gold medals in women's doubles, mixed doubles, women's team at the 2004 South Asian Games, gold in women's doubles, mixed doubles and women's team at the 2006 South Asian Games. Gutta and Diju won the Chinese Taipei Open in 2009 and became the first Indian pair to win a Grand Prix Gold event.

Gutta also won a historic bronze medal at the Thomas & Uber Cup held in New Delhi in 2014. Jwala Gutta, who said goodbye to badminton in 2017, has been honored with the Arjuna Award by the Government of India.
