Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage continued his dominant 2026 season by winning the men's javelin title at the Diamond League Final on Saturday, recording a best throw of 89.04 metres, at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium.
Pathirage finished ahead of Poland's Dawid Wegner, who threw a personal best of 87.47 metres, while Trinidad and Tobago's Keshorn Walcott took third place with a season-best 83.99 metres. Grenada's Anderson Peters was fourth with 83.70 metres, ahead of Kenya's Julius Yego on 76.79 metres. Belgium's Timothy Herman and the United States' Curtis Thompson completed the field. The win adds to a strong season for Pathirage, who also holds the world-leading throw of 92.62 metres, set in Rome on 4 June, 2026. Entering the final as the world No. 1 in the men's javelin, Pathirage once again prevailed against a strong international field, beating Wegner into second place by a margin of 1.57 metres.
