Dinesh Sharma Biography: Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Dinesh Sharma has now been entrusted with a big responsibility. The President has appointed him as the new Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Dinesh Sharma was born in Lucknow. His father Kedar Nath Sharma was associated with RSS and Jan Sangh. That is, he got the political and ideological environment from his family only. Dinesh Sharma studied from Lucknow University and later worked as a teacher in the same university. In the year 1992, he joined the Commerce Department of Lucknow University and later became a professor. However, he was inclined towards politics since his student days. He started his political activism through ABVP and later also worked in Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.

The big turning point in Dinesh Sharma's political career came in the year 2006, when he was elected Mayor of Lucknow. After this, in 2012 he became the Mayor of Lucknow for the second time. After this his stature also increased in the BJP organization. In 2014, he was made the national vice president of the party. This was the period when his organizational role in BJP continued to strengthen.

Then came the year 2017, BJP government was formed in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath and Dinesh Sharma was made the Deputy Chief Minister of the state along with Keshav Prasad Maurya. On 19 March 2017, he took oath as Deputy CM. At that time he was not an elected member of the Assembly. Later he became a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council. During the first term of Yogi government, he had the responsibility of many important departments including education.

After the tenure of Deputy CM, BJP sent him to Rajya Sabha. He was also in the Deputy Chairman panel of Rajya Sabha and now another big milestone has been added to his political journey. Dr. Dinesh Sharma will now be the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. That is, the journey that started from the Mayor of Lucknow, reached the Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh, then Rajya Sabha and now has reached the responsibility of Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory.
