New Delhi. Iran has made a big announcement amid tension in the Persian Gulf. Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said on Sunday that a new restricted area will be declared outside the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days. He told that this area will start from the blockade line of the US Navy and will extend to some parts of the Persian Gulf. According to Rezai, any ship entering this area will be put on the Islamic Republic's sanctions list.
Rezai described the Strait of Hormuz as 'completely closed' in an interview with state broadcaster IRIB. He termed US President Donald Trump's claim that the waterway is open as a 'big lie'. Rezaei said that at present not more than seven-eight ships are passing through the Strait of Hormuz daily, out of which five to six ships are carrying essential goods for Iran.
Claim on ships passing near Oman also
Mohsin Rezai said that America sometimes allows five to six ships to pass through a route passing near Oman. They claim that these ships are usually targeted.
Rezai also said that the maps agreed with Oman regarding the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz will be signed in the coming days. This means that the arrangement made between Iran and Oman regarding the passage of ships can be formalized soon.
Claim of impact on oil supply due to America's blockade
US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant said in an interview with Fox News that Iran has about 30 million barrels of crude oil left, which China has not yet purchased. According to him, American sanctions and naval blockade will soon stop Tehran from supplying this oil.
At the same time, Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf warned America on Sunday that it should understand 'before it is too late' that the rules of the ongoing conflict with Iran have changed.
Meanwhile, an official with Israel's National Security Council told Iran International that Tehran has stepped up efforts to target Iranian government opponents and journalists as well as Israelis abroad.
