The death toll in Delhi’s Satya Niketan Paying Guest (PG) accident has increased to six. The name of this building is P-14. Teams of NDRF, fire department, Delhi Police and other agencies are removing the debris. 10 people have been pulled out safely from the debris.

This accident has raised questions on the safety of buildings being used as PGs and the adherence to construction and fire safety rules in densely populated areas of the national capital. P-14 is said to be manufactured in the 1990s. Rescue operations are continuing to search for other people buried under the debris.

Delhi government has ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident. Police have registered a case against the alleged owner Hari Ram and others. The accident happened on Sunday afternoon in Satya Niketan, a residential colony in front of Sri Venkateswara College, South Campus.

Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu took stock of the incident site. Expressing deep concern over the accident, he directed all the concerned agencies including Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Service and DDMA to carry out rapid relief and rescue operations with mutual coordination.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reached the spot and supervised the rescue operation and directed to take strict action against the culprits. Along with the Chief Minister, Minister Kapil Mishra, Mayor Pravesh Wahi, MP Bansuri Swaraj and MLA Anil Sharma reached the spot.

Union Health Minister JP Nadda spoke to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over phone to know the situation. He assured the Delhi Government of all necessary help from the Health Ministry. Also directed the directors of AIIMS New Delhi and Central Government Hospitals of Delhi to provide all possible medical assistance to the injured.
