Martin Odegaard enjoyed a remarkable previous campaign as he captained Arsenal to the Premier League title, but this season could yet turn out to be even better for him.
The Gunners are, unsurprisingly, among the leading contenders for the title once again, and they have already won their first two matches against Coventry City and Aston Villa.
Even though they fell behind to London rivals Chelsea within the opening two minutes of Sunday’s match at the Emirates, Mikel Arteta’s side fought back and were 2-1 ahead just after the hour mark.
Odegaard played a key role in that recovery, scoring the goal that put Arsenal in front in the second half.
That strike was the Norway international’s second goal of the season, meaning he has already doubled his goal return from last season (1) in only three games.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can see out the result against Chelsea and potentially go on to defend their title, but Odegaard is clearly shaping up for an outstanding individual campaign.
