Punjab Education: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today said his government’s education reforms have transformed government schools in Punjab. He said that in the year 2021, Punjab was at 27th position in the field of education, which has now reached the first position in primary education. Along with this, he also announced the government’s vision of making Punjab a global education hub.

During the state level felicitation ceremony on the occasion of Teacher’s Day in Mohali, the Chief Minister announced international training for teachers, 118 ‘Schools of Eminence’, Wi-Fi facility in 16,348 schools, ‘Business Blasters’ and PTM. The main reason for this change was cited to be greater involvement of parents through NDA, while 50 teachers were also honored for their excellent services.

Teachers honored for their service

Sharing some glimpses on the occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Today, during the state level function organized in Mohali on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, paid tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan ji and honored the teachers who have rendered excellent services.

Taking the education sector to greater heights is our main priority. International training for teachers, establishment of 118 ‘Schools of Eminence’ and providing Wi-Fi facility in 16,348 schools are important steps taken in this direction. Teachers will come to Punjab to take training

Addressing the gathering during a state-level function in Mohali, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “My dream is to make Punjab a global education hub. Due to the revolutionary steps taken by our government in the education sector, the day is not far when teachers from all over the world will come to Punjab for training.

Education is the biggest means of development of humanity

Paying tribute to the second President of India, great philosopher and eminent scholar Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birthday, the Chief Minister said, “Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan gave the message of knowledge, honesty and service to the nation. He firmly believed that education is the greatest means of development of humanity. His life reflects the foundation of academic excellence and moral values, due to which his birthday is celebrated as a day of respect and Guru-Dakshina for teachers throughout the country.”

Special teacher award to 4 teachers

During the felicitation ceremony, teachers who have made significant contributions to the education sector of Punjab were honored. A total of 50 teachers (including 21 primary and 29 secondary teachers) received State Awards, while 10 teachers (4 primary and 6 secondary) received ‘Young Teacher Awards’. Special teacher awards were given to 4 teachers, administrative awards were given to 6 and 5 awards were given to teachers nominated by the Education Minister.

Congratulating all the award winning teachers, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Your hard work, dedication and dedication are laying the foundation for the bright future of Punjab. World-class training from the University of Turku

Referring to international level training for teachers, he said that 234 principals and education officers were trained in Singapore, 152 headmasters were trained in IIM. Training was conducted in Ahmedabad and 144 primary teachers received world-class training from the University of Turku, Finland.

Changes in the education system of government schools

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “We have given international level training to our teachers so that children studying in government schools can get world class education. Training teachers abroad has brought about a change in the education system of government schools. We are preparing our teachers and students to compete anywhere in the world.”

Changed structure of 118 ‘Schools of Eminence’

Referring to ‘Schools of Eminence’, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “‘Schools of Eminence’ have raised the bar of education. We have replaced 118 ‘Schools of Eminence’ with modern infrastructure at a cost of Rs 88.67 crore. Through these modern projects, we are ensuring that every child of Punjab becomes capable of competing anywhere in the world.”

Employees and 1,785 watchmen deployed

The Chief Minister said his government has spent Rs 211.58 crore to improve school safety and infrastructure. 1,917 campus managers, 1,316 security guards, 7,113 sanitation workers and 1,785 watchmen have been deployed to ensure a clean and safe environment in schools.

Facilities are very important for world class education

“Under the digital revolution, we have installed 16,348 Wi-Fi connections in schools. We are also spending Rs 488.67 crore to improve classrooms, laboratories, libraries and toilets. These facilities are very important to provide world-class education to our children,” he said.

Nutritious food to students in government schools

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Punjab government has budgeted more than Rs 47 crore for free uniforms, while books have been distributed in schools on time. Transport facility has also been started for students of classes VI to XII. Under the nutrition scheme, nutritious food is being provided to about 16 lakh students of government schools.

‘Seed money’ of Rs 10.32 crore provided to students

Referring to the ‘Business Blasters’ programme, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Through ‘Business Blasters’ we are making our students job creators rather than job seekers. Under this programme, ‘seed money’ worth Rs 10.32 crore has been provided to 1.83 lakh students so that they can work on their business ideas. Our aim is to enable the youth to create employment opportunities for themselves and others.”

‘Business Blasters’ and the purpose of business education

Emphasizing on the importance of vocational education, he said, “More than 20 trades are being taught under vocational education in 1,490 senior secondary schools across Punjab. These initiatives are enabling our students to acquire skills. The objective of ‘Business Blasters’ and vocational education is to make students not just job seekers but job creators.”

Teacher-parent meetings did not take place at this level.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “I am the son of a teacher and understand very well the difficulties faced by teachers.” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that schools are temples of education and with the introduction of ‘Parent-Teacher Meetings’ (PTM) in government schools, participation of parents in children’s education has increased significantly. He said, “Earlier, government schools never had teacher-parent meets at this level, where teachers and parents could interact with each other. In the last PTM, more than 24 lakh parents came for the meeting. It is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that even a rickshaw puller came to attend the PTM and know about the progress of his son. It shows how the Punjab government is empowering the common man through the education system. Is.”

Punjab reached first place in primary education

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that for the first time 881 students appeared for JEE. And has passed the NEET examination, which he described as a major achievement of the government school education system. The Chief Minister said, “When I took oath in 2022, Punjab was at 27th position in the field of education. Today Punjab has reached the first position in primary education, leaving behind Kerala, which had held this position for a long time. This change has been possible only because of the positive work done by the Punjab government in the field of education.”
