The Health Department is continuously running a campaign to prevent mosquito-borne diseases during the rainy season. Health camps are being organized by the department in rural areas regarding dengue, malaria and other mosquito borne diseases and special monitoring is being done wherever the disease is being reported.
District Malaria Officer Amit Kumar Tiwari said that due to the efforts of the Health Department, less than half the cases of dengue and malaria have been reported in the district so far this year compared to last year. He said that the department is continuously organizing camps in the villages. Apart from this, special monitoring is being done in the areas where information is received. He informed that for the prevention of mosquitoes, spraying of anti-larva drug and fogging is being done through ADO Panchayat. Medicines are provided from time to time by the Malaria Department. In areas where more cases are being reported, the Malaria Department is especially spraying and fogging anti-larva drugs. He said that the Malaria Department has the facility of fogging to prevent mosquito-borne diseases and the facility of free testing of fever patients through RDT.
Get tested immediately in case of fever
The District Malaria Officer appealed to the people to first get tested through an ASHA worker in case of fever. If malaria is confirmed, there is a provision for free treatment at the government level. Advising people not to get treatment from quacks, he said that tests can also be done by visiting the nearest primary health centre. He told that in malaria, symptoms like shivering and sweating can be seen along with high fever. Whereas in dengue, symptoms like high fever, pain around the eyes, headache, body and joint pain and vomiting can be seen. In case of such symptoms, do not be careless and go to a government hospital and get tested for free.
Dengue mosquito breeds in clean water
District Malaria Officer Amit Kumar Tiwari said that dengue mosquitoes breed in clean water. Therefore, do not allow water to accumulate anywhere in and around the house. Especially do not allow water to accumulate in coolers, trays kept behind the refrigerator, pots, old tires lying on rooftops, unnecessary utensils and other containers. He especially advised the patients suffering from dengue and malaria to use mosquito nets. He advised people to consume adequate amount of fluids. Also told that it is necessary to complete the treatment of malaria for the prescribed period. After completion of treatment, the patient can become completely healthy.
Attack on mosquitoes, attack on larvae every Sunday
Appealing to the people, the District Malaria Officer said that they should start the campaign “Every Sunday attack on mosquitoes, attack on larvae” from their homes. On Sunday, all the family members should look around to see if there is water accumulated in any vessel, pot, bowl, cooler or on the roof. If water accumulates, clean it immediately. He said that dengue mosquitoes bite during the day, so people should wear full sleeve clothes. Repellent cream can be used to protect against mosquitoes. He also appealed to make students and parents aware about mosquito-borne diseases through schools. Amit Kumar Tiwari, District Malaria Officer, Badaun, finally appealed to the general public not to be careless about dengue and malaria, not to allow water to accumulate nearby and to immediately get tested at the government health center if symptoms of the disease appear.
