Teacher's Day was celebrated on 5th September at Kolkata's Gyan Manch in a grand ceremony. Organized by Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers, House-54 and the Department of Performing Arts, Presidency University extended their support for this special celebration.
At the beginning of the program, the 'Shikshak Pranaam' phase was organized. Special honors were given to two distinguished personalities there. The honorees are noted linguist Pavita Sarkar and National Award-winning film director Pradeepta Bhattacharya. Rupak Saha, Director of Shyam Sundar Co. Jewelers and Dhiman Mitra, Director of House 54 presented the reception to them. The audience in the auditorium gave a standing ovation to these two illustrious role models.
An emotional Holy Sarkar said that such love and sincerity left him speechless. On the other hand, director Pradeepta Bhattacharya said that he always feels more comfortable behind the camera. But he sincerely thanked the organizers for this unique honor.
After the end of the tribute, the drama begins. The much awaited drama 'Taraay, Taraay' directed by Kaushik Sen was staged. This play is inspired from the novel 'Tarabhara Akashen Niche' by poet Sreejatar. Various aspects of the life of the famous painter Vincent van Gogh and his timeless painting 'The Starry Night' emerge in the play. The drama stars Kaushik Sen, Reshmi Sen, Riddhi Sen, Surangana Bandyopadhyay and Rajarshi Nag. At the end of the performance, there was a storm of applause in the audience.
Rupak Saha, director of the organization, said that Shyam Sundar Co. Jewelers is not limited to selling jewellery. Their main purpose is to celebrate the aspects of life that are as precious as gold. They are very proud to honor two worthy role models of the society. Besides, he termed this drama as pure 24 carat in terms of presentation and content.
