Lucknow,
The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has passed an important order on two separate petitions regarding height measurement in police constable and home guard recruitment. A single bench of Justice Rajeev Singh, while disposing of both the cases on September 1, directed the concerned authorities to re-measure the height of the candidates.
In the first petition, Kapil Kumar mentioned about participating in the constable recruitment process. He claimed that his height was 168.2 centimetres, but the medical board measured it twice at 167.5 centimetres. Later P.L. of Meerut. During medical examination at Sharma District Hospital, the height was found to be 168.2 cm.
In the second petition, Pushpendra Gautam mentioned Home Guard recruitment. He says that his height is 168.5 cm, whereas the medical board measured it at 167.3 cm earlier and after the objection, it was 167.6 cm. During examination at District Joint Hospital, Amroha, the height was found to be 168.5 cm.
The court found in both cases that there was a clear discrepancy in the height measurement by the authorities. The bench said that the discrepancy is clear from the evidence available on record, hence intervention is necessary.
Justice Rajiv Singh, while disposing of both the petitions, directed the concerned examination controllers to make arrangements to re-measure the height of both the candidates on 7 September 2026 at 11:30 am. The court also directed the Additional Chief Standing Advocate to immediately convey the order to the concerned authorities, so that its compliance can be ensured.
In both the cases, the petitioners' side was represented by advocate Subhash Chandra Yadav, while the Additional Chief Standing Counsel replied on behalf of the state. These orders are considered important towards ensuring the accuracy of physical parameters in the recruitment processes.
