Lucknow. The effect of efforts to improve the power system in Uttar Pradesh is now visible in the government figures as well. In the last few years, there has been a significant reduction in losses during power distribution. The distribution loss which was 20.63 percent in 2020-21 came down to 13.04 percent in 2025-26.
At the same time, AT&C loss of electricity has also reduced from 31.19 percent to 17.83 percent. The total number of feeders in the state, excluding agricultural feeders, has increased and the number of profitable feeders has also increased from 5,772 to 8,104.
Focus on 703 high loss clusters
To improve electricity theft and high loss areas, the government has implemented the High Loss Cluster Model. Under this, 703 clusters and 1,703 feeders of the state were brought under surveillance. About 42.21 lakh consumers and 76,839 transformers are included in these areas.
During the campaign, dues amounting to more than Rs 654 crore were recovered, while more than one lakh new electricity connections were also released.
Electricity loss reduced in Dakshinanchal also
There has been improvement in the figures to electricity distribution in Dakshinanchal region also. Here the distribution loss reduced from 25.64 percent to 14.78 percent. At the same time, AT&C loss also came down from 31.03 percent to 19.57 percent.
According to officials, this change has come about due to regular monitoring at the feeder level, emphasis on revenue collection and data-based review. Due to this, along with strengthening the financial position of the power companies, the hope of getting better power supply to the consumers has increased.
