Siddharthnagar. The situation became tense at Madhav Prasad Tripathi Medical College on Monday evening when dozens of students doing internship opened a protest against the policies of the administration. There was anger among the students against the order to vacate the already allotted hostel rooms and against the outsiders living illegally in the hostel. The angry students started protesting by locking both the main gates of the medical college from inside, which continued till late evening.

The protesting students say that they have been allotted rooms as per the rules by the college administration. Despite this, now pressure is being put on them to vacate the hostel and live outside on rent. The girl students allege that they are being pushed into inhumane conditions and 4 girls each are being offered accommodation in a small room measuring just 6×9 feet. The students clearly say that this tampering with the basic residential rights and mental peace of the intern doctors who are engaged in serving the patients day and night will not be tolerated again.

As soon as information about the ruckus and gate closure was received, the police force reached the spot and started trying to control the situation. The students' protest continued till late evening when the news was written. Till now no official side or explanation has come from the college administration in this entire episode. Student representatives say that their agitation will continue until their demands are met and students do not get their legitimate rights by taking action against outsiders in the hostel.
