Vibrant Village Program, State Level Approval Committee meeting organized under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary

A meeting of the State Level Approval Committee (SLSC) to Vibrant Village Program was organized in the Secretariat on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. The Chief Secretary instructed the officers that the projects should be selected and prioritized keeping in mind the overall development of the border areas. In the meeting, various development works proposed under Phase-1 and Phase-2 of Vibrant Village Program were discussed in detail. Various projects were given recommendations on this occasion.

The Chief Secretary said that along with expansion of road and electricity grid connectivity, networks, television and communication facilities in Vibrant Village areas, priority should be given to projects promoting tourism activities. He said that along with the development of basic facilities in border villages, special attention should be given to projects that promote employment and economic activities at the local level. He directed that while preparing proposals for projects to Vibrant Village Programme, necessary projects to Army, SSB and ITBP should also be presented before the committee. He instructed to identify the projects on priority basis as per the local needs of the respective districts.

Proposals should be prepared on priority basis

The Chief Secretary said that the priority of works should be clearly determined in the project proposals sent to the Central Government. He said that the list of projects should be prepared in descending order of priority, for this, proposals should be prepared after getting the priority of the projects from the respective districts. He also directed that efforts should be made to fund the projects for which financial resources may be available under any other scheme of the Government of India or the State Government, through the respective schemes. Such projects can be removed from the list of Vibrant Village Program and other essential and priority projects can be included in their place.

Instructions for preparing important projects

The Chief Secretary clarified that all the projects under Phase-1 and Phase-2 of the Vibrant Village Program should be sent to the Central Government only after setting the priority. He instructed to prepare five big and important projects from each respective district for the Vibrant Village Programme. He said that such projects should be prepared which can play an important role in the overall development of vibrant village areas. These projects should keep in mind the local needs of the area, connectivity, infrastructure, tourism, livelihood and strategic needs of the border areas. In the meeting, Principal Secretary Shri R. Meenakshi Sundaram, DG Prison Mr. Abhinav Kumar, Secretary Mr. Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, Mr. C. Ravi Shankar, IG Dr. Nilesh Anand Bharne and senior officers of the concerned departments were present.
