Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government has expanded the scope of welfare schemes for fisherman families. Now financial assistance will be provided from the Fishermen Welfare Fund for the marriage of daughters and education of children of eligible families. For this, the government has issued new guidelines by changing the old rules.
One lakh rupees will be given for daughter's marriage
Under the new system, assistance up to Rs 1 lakh will now be given on the marriage of a daughter of an eligible family. In this, Rs 60 thousand will be sent directly to the girl's bank account through DBT, while the remaining amount will be earmarked for wedding gifts and expenses to the event.
For this assistance, the age of the groom must be at least 21 years and the age of the girl must be 18 years. Also, the family will have to fulfill the prescribed community or fisheries eligibility. Families taking advantage of any other similar scheme like Chief Minister Group Marriage will not get the benefit of this assistance.
Children of class 9-10 will also get help
Children studying in classes 9 and 10 from fishermen families will also get the benefit of Purva Dasham scholarship. Eligible students will be given an annual ad-hoc grant of Rs 150 per month and Rs 750 for a maximum of 10 months.
For this, the annual income of the guardian should not exceed Rs 2 lakh. It is necessary for the student to study regularly in a recognized or government institution in UP. Students taking other government scholarships will not be eligible for this scheme.
With this decision of the government, economically weak fishermen families are expected to get direct financial help in the marriage of their daughters and education of their children.
