Amir refused to listen to the script of the film

This was actually revealed by actor-writer Amin Haji himself during an interview. Amin Haji has proved his acting prowess in dozens of films like Jodha Akbar, Ghulam, Lagaan… He told that when Lagaan was released, he was working on the film Swadesh with his wife Charlotte Whitby Coles. This film was actually written keeping Aamir in mind. But Aamir refused after listening to the script of this film.

Shahrukh was never the first choice for Ashutosh

Although he said that he would produce this film.. when Shahrukh saw Lagaan, he himself called Ashutosh Gowarikar and told him that he wanted to do Swadesh.. but Shahrukh was never the first choice for Ashutosh.. After Aamir’s refusal, Hrithik Roshan and R Madhavan were approached. Madhavan almost got selected.. but then the situation became such that this film fell into Shahrukh’s lap.. and Shahrukh did a tremendous job in the film. The story of the film was a little different but was relatable to everyone. In which the hearts of the audience were touched.

Amen tells that when Swadesh came into the hands of Shahrukh, he had said that I am ready to do the film which Aamir will reject without thinking, without even reading the script.. Why that film will be the best. Not only Swadesh, but there are many films like Mohabbatein, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman… which were rejected by Aamir and those films brightened Shahrukh’s career. At the same time, Aamik also did many rejected films of Shahrukh… which include superhit films like Rang De Basanti, 3 Idiots… which are called the best films of Aamir’s career. Due to rejecting Three Idiots, Shahrukh has jokingly called himself the Fourth Idiot many times.
