Now customers in both urban and rural areas across the country will be able to book their next domestic gas cylinder after a gap of 25 days.

On Monday, September 7, 2026, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has directed the government oil companies Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum to implement this system uniformly across the country. The new rule has come into effect with immediate effect.

Earlier rural customers had to wait 45 days

In fact, after the conflict in West Asia started in February 2026, the pressure on LPG supply had increased. During this period, to control the increasing demand for gas cylinders, the government had fixed the minimum gap between two bookings.

At that time, arrangements were made for urban customers to book the next LPG cylinder after 25 days, while for customers in rural areas, it was only after 45 days. This system was implemented temporarily at that time.

Now same rules in city and village

Now, after the supply of LPG is better than before and the backlog of booking is less, the government has eliminated the difference in booking between urban and rural customers.

Under the new rule, now the gap in booking the next cylinder for all domestic LPG customers across the country will be 25 days. Customers in rural areas will benefit the most from this, who earlier had to wait for 45 days for the next booking.

That is, now if you have booked a domestic LPG cylinder, then it will be necessary to complete a gap of 25 days to book the next cylinder. With this decision of the government, the booking system has become uniform for customers of both rural and urban areas.
