New Delhi. Delhi High Court has taken a tough stance on the incident of building collapse in Satya Niketan. The court said that not only the building owner can be held responsible for this tragedy, but the Delhi Government, MCD and Delhi University (DU) also cannot escape their responsibility. The court directed to speed up relief and rescue operations so that as many lives as possible can be saved.

Speed ​​up relief work

During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that all possible efforts are being made for relief and rescue operations. The court directed the administration to speed up the campaign and make full use of the available resources.

Audit of PG and hostels

The High Court has directed MCD to audit the PGs and hostels of Delhi within a week. The court clarified that the safety of students is not only the responsibility of the building owners, but the concerned government agencies also have to fulfill their responsibilities.

need for rules

The court told the authorities that if there are not adequate guidelines for regulation of PGs and hostels, then new rules and guidelines should be prepared immediately. Also, emphasis was laid on ensuring regular monitoring of safety of buildings and compliance with rules.
