In a recent report, FussballDaten claimed that Manchester United are considering a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha. The report added that the Red Devils are interested in taking the German talent to Old Trafford next year.

Nmecha produced a number of impressive displays in the heart of Borussia Dortmund’s midfield over the course of the previous campaign. The 25-year-old scored five goals and registered three assists in 42 appearances for the German club last season across all competitions.

The German midfielder is currently regarded as one of the most gifted central midfielders in the Bundesliga. Hence, the Red Devils would do well to try and complete a deal for him next year.

His existing contract at Signal Iduna Park is set to run until the summer of 2030, and that could make it tough for Manchester United to sign him for a bargain fee either in January or at the end of this season.

Dortmund, Germany – August 29: Felix Nmecha of Borussia Dortmund carries the ball during the Bundesliga 2026/27 match between Borussia Dortmund and Hamburger SV at Signal Iduna Park on August 29, 2026 in Dortmund, Germany.

Nmecha is effective at creating a bit of room for himself to get shots away at goal. He possesses the vision to fashion promising openings for his teammates and is also a capable dribbler when in possession.

The German talent can also contribute with important goals and assists from midfield. Nmecha is mainly a box-to-box midfielder, but he can also operate as a defensive midfielder or in the number ten role when needed. However, only time will tell if he can adapt to the physical nature and high intensity of the Premier League should the Red Devils succeed in bringing him in next year.

One can expect Nmecha to add more quality and squad depth to Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick’s midfield department. He has the attributes needed to compete for a regular first-team place at the Theatre of Dreams.

At 25, Nmecha still has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a reasonable option for the Mancunian club to target in 2027. However, Carrick would need to give him time to settle into life in England before getting the best out of him.
