Will the language wall between humans and animals end? AI will understand animal language by 2030

New Delhi: For a long time, humans have wanted to know what animals talk to each other and what is the real meaning of their sounds. Now Artificial Intelligence i.e. AI is giving a new direction to this effort. Scientists believe that in the coming years it may be possible to understand the communication of animals and birds with the help of AI. Some experts hope that major success can be achieved in this direction by 2030.

trying to understand animals

Humans' efforts to understand the language of animals is not new. Scientists have found flutes made of bones that are about 12 thousand years old. It is believed that they may have been used to imitate the sounds of birds or in an attempt to communicate with them.

Even in modern times, scientists have done many experiments in this direction. Psychologist Irene Pepperberg studied the African gray parrot Alex for nearly three decades. At the same time, famous anthropologist Jane Goodall also worked for a long time on understanding the behavior of chimpanzees and their voices.

AI and small recording tags will do wonders

Now scientists have more modern technology than before. Small electronic recording tags, called biologgers, can record animal sounds. By applying these on different species, large scale data to their voices and behavior can be collected.

After this AI can analyze the patterns present in these recordings. With this, scientists are trying to understand what different sounds and signals could mean.

Big success can be achieved by 2030

Some researchers and supporters associated with this field hope that due to the rapid progress of AI, significant success can be achieved in understanding animal communication by 2030. This can also help in wildlife conservation and understanding their behavior.

Danger may increase for animals

However, another aspect of this technology raises concerns. If humans start understanding the language of animals, then it can also be misused. With the help of AI, hunters can find new ways to trap birds or other animals.

There are examples of misuse of such technology in history also. Therefore, as big a scientific achievement as understanding the language of animals is, it will also be a big responsibility. The real challenge will be to ensure that this knowledge is used to protect animals, not to harm them.
