Enzo Maresca is set to rotate his side for the trip to Portugal as the league phase gets under way.

Manchester City maintained their perfect Premier League record with a narrow 1-0 win over Coventry in their previous outing, courtesy of another trademark goal from Erling Haaland, and manager Enzo Maresca is expected to shuffle his pack in Portugal on Tuesday evening.

The Coventry game brought two fresh injury concerns. Nico O’Reilly had been due to start but withdrew late after suffering a lower back problem in the warm-up, with debutant Enzo Fernandez drafted in as his replacement.

Fellow Deadline Day signing Iliman Ndiaye was then forced off with what appeared to be a knock, joining winger Jeremy Doku on the treatment table.

Iliman Ndiaye will be hoping to make his Champions League debut on Tuesday night.

Maresca had already indicated that changes would be made at the Estadio do Dragao.

After the win over Coventry, he said: “We saw today with Ayyoub [Bouaddi], [Ryan] McAidoo, Iliman Ndiaye, they haven’t played in Champions League but they need to start, so on Tuesday they are going to start to get minutes in the Champions League.”

It is still unclear whether Ndiaye will be fit enough to play in Porto. However, he has been pictured in training, which suggests he is available.

If that is the case, he is expected to start on the left wing, with Antoine Semenyo making way for McAidoo on the other flank and Fernandez operating as the No.10.

Bouaddi should partner Elliot Anderson at the base of midfield, ahead of what is likely to be an unchanged back four of Josko Gvardiol, Marc Guehi, Ruben Dias and Abdukodir Khusanov.

Matheus Nunes has been included in the travelling squad and could also be involved after confirming that he is now fully fit following an ankle issue.

O’Reilly is expected to return for Sunday’s derby against Manchester United at Old Trafford, though it is still not known exactly when Doku will be back.

Maresca has made it clear that Haaland will have to be rotated in and out of the squad over the coming weeks as City compete on four fronts, though the prolific Norwegian is still likely to lead the line in Portugal.
