Hong Kong authorities have suspended the licenses of two travel agencies and a tour guide over forced shopping involving tour groups, as the city moves to protect its tourism reputation.
The Travel Industry Authority (TIA) named the two agencies as Go Go Ming Travel Services Limited and Grandee Travel Company Limited, and identified the tour guide as Sun Kwun-ying, the South China Morning Post reported.
The agencies hosted tour groups in February and April this year, respectively.

The tourism authority said both failed to take reasonable measures to protect tourists from forced shopping.
During the tours, Sun allegedly made threatening remarks to pressure visitors into making purchases, The Standard newspaper reported.
The TIA said it has zero tolerance for forced shopping and other misconduct that could harm Hong Kong’s reputation as a tourist destination.
It warned that it would continue taking firm action against practices that undermine the interests of visitors and the tourism industry.
Hong Kong, the world’s second most visited city after Bangkok, welcomed 31.22 million visitors in the first seven months of the year, a 12% increase from the same period last year.
