A new controversy has arisen in India regarding the new world map released by the United Nations. It has come to light that in this map Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin have been shown as separate areas outside the borders of India. The special thing is that India had supported the United Nations proposal for preparing this map. However, India has clarified that it has not supported any particular map or demarcation.

The United Nations General Assembly last week approved the 'Correct the Map' resolution presented by Togo on behalf of the African Group. This proposal promotes the principle of showing different areas of the world on the map on the basis of more accurate and equal area.

In the new map, Arunachal Pradesh has been shown as a separate area. The border between Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland has also been removed from the map, and Arunachal Pradesh is shown as bordering Assam and China. The United Nations has not explained the reason behind this change. Additionally, Aksai Chin is also shown as a separate area, with India to the west and China to the east. India has clearly said that Aksai Chin is a part of Ladakh.

While supporting the 'Correct the Map' resolution, India had clarified that the resolution does not mean that it supports any particular map or any particular arrangement of national borders. The Ministry of External Affairs has said that the sovereign territory of India, including the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, should be shown as per the official map of India. The ministry has also made it clear that India does not accept wrong or misleading demarcation.
