After filing a chargesheet in the Red Fort blast case, in which some doctors were allegedly involved, the National Investigation Agency intensified its crackdown on terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir by conducting a nearly hour-long search operation at the residence of Adeel Majid Rather in Qazigund, Anantnag district.
Adeel Majid Rather was a “white-collar” terrorist who tied to last year’s devastating bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort.
The raid forms part of the NIA’s expanding probe into the November 10 explosion that rocked the national capital, killing more than a dozen people and injuring twenty others in an attack that sent shockwaves across the country. Rather was already in custody when the bomb went off — security agencies had arrested him three days earlier, on November 7, from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, well before the blast shook Delhi.

According to officials, NIA teams spent close to an hour combing through Rather’s home in Qazigund, working to piece together crucial leads that could strengthen the case. The agency has so far remained tight-lipped about what, if anything, was recovered during the search.

Rather’s arrest last year had already exposed a chilling dimension of the case: he stands accused of plastering Srinagar with threatening posters designed to spread fear across the city. His detention subsequently led police to unravel what they described as a “white-collar” terror module — a network that investigators say disturbingly included several doctors allegedly complicit in terror- activities.
That revelation triggered a wider, more intensive investigation that continues to this day.

High Alert Along Samba Border Amid Drone Threat

Separately, security forces have been placed on high alert along the border stretches of Samba district following intelligence inputs pointing to suspected Pakistani drone activity. Defence sources said the alert was triggered after drones were reportedly spotted hovering near Amritsar International Airport, prompting a tightening of security across Samba’s frontier belt.

In response, BSF troops and the Special Operations Group (SOG) carried out a joint search operation on Monday across the Palura, Nadala, Chachwal and Chilyari sectors. Security personnel also set up checkpoints along key routes, subjecting vehicles to thorough inspection. Officials said the sweeping search operation was aimed at keeping suspicious individuals and activities under close watch, with BSF and SOG teams continuing their vigil to ensure no threat slips through along the sensitive border zone.
