A hearing was held for about three hours in the Supreme Court on Tuesday in the case to appointment and adherence to reservation rules in 69000 teacher recruitment. Due to non-completion of the hearing, the court has listed the case for the next day i.e. 9 September 2026. In such a situation, the hearing on this matter will continue on Wednesday also. At present, the arguments of different parties are being heard in the Supreme Court mainly regarding the observance of reservation rules, appointment of reserved category candidates and the affidavit presented by the government.

Advocate Mandeep Kalra, appearing on behalf of reserved category candidates, prominently raised the issue of 4946 posts included in the government’s affidavit. He said that the affidavit also includes the names of such candidates who, despite being called for appointment, did not come to take up the appointment. The advocate placed before the court that if such names are removed and eligible candidates of the reserved category are appointed to the available posts, then he agrees with the affidavit presented by the government.

During the hearing, the advocate present on behalf of EWS category also presented his side before the court. Different categories of advocates are being given an opportunity to present their arguments, so that the position can be clarified before the court on all aspects of the case. At the same time, the advocate appearing on behalf of Uttar Pradesh government said that the recruitment advertisement was of the year 2018. The government presented its stand regarding the recruitment process and the rules applicable at that time.

The candidates have been divided into different categories on the basis of different demands and prayers for hearing the case. Arguments from many parties were heard on Tuesday, but the debate could not be completed. Now the hearing will be held once again in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. Thousands of candidates for 69000 teacher recruitment have their eyes fixed on tomorrow’s hearing, especially those candidates from the reserved category, who have been demanding appointment as per the reservation rules for a long time.
