Bhopal. Leader of Opposition in MP Assembly Umang Singhar reached Ambedkar Park in Bhopal on Monday and met PESA mobilizers. All PESA mobilizers have been agitating for their demands for the last 14 days. Singhar supported the agitators. He assured that he will raise his voice at every level to get justice and their rights. Singhar said that the government made about 5200 PESA mobilizers of the state unemployed in one stroke.
This is not just a matter of snatching the employment of 5 thousand youth, but it is an attack on the livelihood, future and respect of thousands of families. Surprisingly, PESA mobilizers have been sitting on strike in Bhopal for 14 days, but the government, which talks about tribals and their rights, does not even have time to listen to them. This reveals the reality of the government’s claims of being tribal friendly.
PESA mobilizers have been acting as an important grassroots link between the government and tribal gram sabhas. By going from village to village, he has played a role in activating Gram Sabhas and increasing awareness about PESA law. PESA is not implemented on the ground only through speeches and posters. For this, there is a need for grassroots workers working continuously in the villages. PESA mobilizers provided their services by going from village to village for very low honorarium for years.
Today the government is ignoring their experience, hard work and service and forcing them to sit at home. He said that not only employment has been taken away, but the livelihood and dignity of thousands of families has been affected.
