Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the trial of India's first indigenous bullet train is expected to start in May-June 2027. The train can be started for general passengers after 2-4 months of testing.

Business: A big update has come out regarding the operation of India's first indigenous bullet train. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Tuesday that the trial of the high-speed train is expected to start in May-June next year. After completion of 2-4 months of testing, it can be opened for general passengers.

Indigenous bullet train will hit the tracks in May-June 2027

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed about the progress of the Bullet Train project in the 'NaMo for Developed India' program organized in Vadodara. He informed that the first body frame of the high-speed train has recently been prepared and has been sent for squeeze testing.

Vaishnav said that by May or June next year, India's own bullet train will be on the tracks for testing. After this, testing will be done for 2-4 months. He said that after the completion of testing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the bullet train.

Linking this project to the vision of 'self-reliant India', the Railway Minister said that this will promote high-speed rail technology in the country. He also informed that the bullet train will significantly reduce the travel time between Vadodara and Mumbai.

Distance from Vadodara to Mumbai is about one and a half hour.

Ashwini Vaishnav said that after the start of Bullet Train service, the journey from Vadodara to Mumbai can be completed in about one and a half hours. He informed that the construction work on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor is progressing rapidly.

According to the Railway Minister, the construction of the Surat-Vapi section of the corridor is expected to be completed by December this year. Construction and technical works are being carried forward in different parts of the project, so that the high-speed rail service can be started as per the plan.

Along with the Bullet Train project, the government is also emphasizing on comprehensive modernization of Railways. Vaishnav said that the operating system, reservation platform and old construction protocols of the Railways are being improved. He said that the process of modernization is going on at many levels, from operating system and reservation system to construction rules.

Claim of laying 36,000 kilometers of new tracks

The Railway Minister also mentioned the changes in railway infrastructure. He said that in recent years many long pending projects have been completed. These include the Chenab Bridge and the rail connectivity project connecting Mizoram to the national railway network.

According to Vaishnav, 280 railway stations have been re-developed and 36,000 kilometers of new railway tracks have been laid. He also informed that cargo trains with Vande Bharat technology are being developed.

The Railway Minister said that despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, the pace of development of railway infrastructure accelerated. He said that after the completion of the first section of the Bullet Train Project in 2020, work on the next section gained momentum.

He said that the modern form of Indian Railways will be beneficial for many generations to come.
