Many people use different methods to turn off the AC. Some people turn off the AC remotely, while some people turn off the AC directly from the main switch or board itself.

- Advantages of remote shutdown: The AC remote has a red button for power. When you turn off the AC using the remote, the AC’s internal fan and compressor shuts down safely as per the system set by the company. This does not put additional stress on the mechanism of AC.
- Disadvantages of direct switch closure: Many people turn off the AC directly with the power switch. By doing this, a sudden heavy load is imposed on the mechanism and circuit of the AC. If the AC is turned off continuously with a direct switch, it can deteriorate very quickly.
Hence, to extend the life of a new or old AC it should always be turned off remotely first so that its system can be shut down properly.
