NagpurMahindra & Mahindra Limited is developing the manpower required for its upcoming – and largest ever – integrated automobile and tractor manufacturing project as it moves towards acquiring the first phase of around 800 acres of land at 'Additional Butibori' in India. The project will focus on skill development and employment generation. Announced earlier this year, the 'greenfield' project will be built on a 1,500-acre site in Vidarbha, complemented by the development of a 150-acre 'Supplier Park' at Sambhajinagar.

Once fully operational, the project will have an annual production capacity of 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors, making it Mahindra's largest integrated manufacturing plant in the country. The supplier park at Sambhajinagar will also supply spare parts to the new project in Nagpur, as well as Mahindra's existing projects in Chakan and Nashik.

Along with the development of this facility, Mahindra is developing the manpower capacity and skills required for this project. This will involve identifying, developing and upskilling the talent required to manufacture automobiles and tractors based on various powertrains and future technologies.

Mahindra will seek to leverage the experience and expertise of employees associated with its existing manufacturing operations. In the next two to three years, these skilled and experienced employees will have the opportunity to participate in the detailed selection process for various positions in the new project.
