Delhi: Great fast bowler Wasim Akram, who was a part of the Pakistani team that won three consecutive Test series on English soil between 1987 and 1996, has told the very bitter truth about the current Pakistani team. The former left-arm veteran bowler says that even before the start of the current England tour, he had realized that Pakistan was going to be swept 0-3 in this series. Pakistan is trailing 0-2 after losing the first two matches of the three-match Test series and the third Test will be played from September 9.

I knew Pakistan would have a clean sweep – Akram

While talking to 'The Athletic', Wasim Akram said bluntly,

“I knew even before the series started that we were going to lose 3-0 to England. Our batting was struggling, the bowling was below average and the quality of fielding was even worse. It doesn't take rocket science to understand this.”

Akram said a big thing on PCB's tough decisions and players' attitude

Pakistan's poor performance on the field is being criticized, but the major changes made by the Pakistan Cricket Board after the second test also surprised everyone. PCB sent 7 players back to Pakistan during the England tour, while head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and his support staff were also removed.

On this whole incident, Wasim Akram said that he feels bad for the players, but the players themselves are not helping in improving their situation with their attitude.

Talking about the internal situation of Pakistan cricket, Akram said, “We have a saying in Pakistan that clapping should always be done with both hands. People often ask me, can you do something to help Pakistan cricket? But the problems here are very deep. The players who are playing are our top players. Apart from this, we have no other option.”

The former fast bowler also expressed concern over the falling level of domestic cricket. Akram said, “We don't have a strong system at the lower level. Our domestic first-class structure has been in complete disarray in the last few years. There is no continuity and no one has the patience.”

Akram admitted that continuous poor performance also affects the cricket fans of Pakistan. He said that the same anger and disappointment is reflected in the fans also.
