Preity Zinta has reacted to the disappointing box office run of her comeback film They drive 1947saying an actor can only control the effort they put in, not the outcome.
Speaking to Mid-day, the 51-year-olde said, “First of all, I am very proud of the film, and it’s a very overwhelming experience. And as an actor, I am always managing expectations. Once I am working, I put in my 100 per cent.”
She added, “As I said earlier, I believe in karam (deed). You do your karam and then leave the rest to god. You can’t control what happens. So, you work as hard as you can on every film; I give my 1000 per cent and then leave the rest to God.”
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, the partition drama also starred Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol and Ali Fazal.
Set in Lahore during the 1947 Partition, it follows Sikandar Mirza (Sunny Deol) and his family as they flee to Lahore, where a property dispute with Durgavati (Shabana Azmi) takes a communal turn.
Made on a reported Rs 150 crore budget, the film opened to mixed-to-negative reviews and collected just Rs 38.80 crore net in India.
The Kal Ho Naa Ho actress is now awaiting her next release, Vibea spy comedy directed by Kunal Kemmu, where she plays Madam H. Vibe releases in theatres on September 18.
