Jaipur. Voting for the first phase of Municipal Corporation General Elections 2026 in Rajasthan began at 7 am on Wednesday, September 9. Voters are exercising their franchise in 162 urban bodies of 39 districts of the state. As per the instructions of the State Election Commission, the voting process will continue till 6 pm.

In the first phase, elections are being held for a total of 5,393 councilor posts of 4 Municipal Corporations, 24 Municipal Councils and 134 Municipal Corporations. More than 20 thousand candidates are in the electoral fray for these posts.

57.52 lakh voters at 7,683 polling stations

7,683 polling stations have been set up across the state for the first phase of elections. A total of 57,52,278 voters are using their votes at these centres.

Voting in four municipal corporations also

Four major municipal corporations of Rajasthan are also included in the first phase. These include Alwar, Bharatpur, Bikaner and Bhilwara Municipal Corporations, where voters are voting to elect their representatives.

Voting in 18 bodies of Jaipur district

Voting is being conducted for 18 urban bodies under the first phase in Jaipur district. A total of 565 polling stations have been created for this. These include 16 municipalities along with Chaumun and Shahpura Municipal Council.

These municipalities include Dudu, Jobner, Bassi, Kishangarh-Renwal, Chaksu, Bagru, Sambharlek, Vatika, Jamvaramgarh, Phagi, Naraina, Phulera, Manoharpur, Kanota, Khejroli and Kaladera.

Election atmosphere in 39 districts

Apart from Jaipur, a total of 39 districts including Ajmer, Udaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Bhilwara, Alwar, Bharatpur, Sikar, Pali, Nagaur, Chittorgarh, Sawai Madhopur and Barmer are included in the first phase of urban body elections.

Under the guidelines of the State Election Commission, heavy police force has been deployed at the polling stations to conduct the voting in a peaceful and fair manner.
