New Delhi: Apple is preparing for one of its biggest smartphone announcements as it is expected to enter the foldable phone market with its first-ever foldable iPhone. Ahead of the launch event, several key details about the upcoming device, including its name, pricing and availability, have surfaced online.

According to reports, Apple's foldable smartphone could be launched as the iPhone Duo instead of the previously rumored names like iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra. The device is expected to feature a book-style folding design and could mark a new direction for Apple's premium iPhone lineup.

iPhone Duo Price Could Make It Apple's Most Expensive iPhone

The biggest talking point around the upcoming foldable iPhone is its expected price. Reports suggest that the iPhone Duo could start at around $2,000, making it one of Apple's costliest mainstream products.

The base model is expected to come with 256GB storage, while higher storage variants could reportedly go up to 2TB. The top-end version may reportedly cross the $3,000 mark.

The high price is believed to be linked to expensive foldable display technology and rising component costs.

Apple's foldable iPhone may support Apple Pencil

The iPhone Duo is also expected to bring a major change by introducing Apple Pencil support on an iPhone for the first time.

With a larger internal display, the stylus feature could make the device more useful for productivity, note-taking and creative tasks. However, Apple has not yet confirmed whether existing Apple Pencil models will work with the foldable phone.

iPhone Duo Colors And Availability

Reports suggest that Apple may launch the foldable iPhone in only two color options — white and dark blue.

Unlike other iPhone models, the company is expected to keep the color limited lineup initially due to production challenges.

The iPhone Duo could go on sale in October, a few weeks after the main iPhone launch event.

The foldable iPhone is expected to feature:

• Around 5.5-inch outer display
• 7.8-inch inner foldable screen
• Apple A20 Pro chip
• Ultra-thin body design
• Possible Touch ID instead of Face ID

Along with the iPhone Duo, Apple is also expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max with camera upgrades, improved performance and design changes.
