The ninth National Nutrition Month was formally inaugurated in the district by District Magistrate Santosh Kumar Sharma along with Chief Development Officer Shatrohan Vaishya. On this occasion, the District Magistrate flagged off the nutrition awareness campaign vehicle.
National Nutrition Month will be organized from 9 September to 8 October. This year the main theme of the campaign has been kept as 'Our Anganwadi is our responsibility'. The objective of the campaign is to make Anganwadi centers the primary focus of community-led activities for nutrition, care and child development and to strengthen collective ownership and accountability towards Anganwadi centres.
The District Magistrate instructed the concerned officials that the nutrition campaign is based on multi-departmental coordination. Child development services and nutrition, health, education, rural development and other departments should run the campaign effectively with mutual coordination.
He said that the objective of the campaign is to overcome the problem of malnutrition through mass movement and community participation. For this, all the departments will have to discharge their responsibilities effectively and deliver the benefits of the schemes at the grassroots level.
During National Nutrition Month, people will be made aware about nutrition, child health and the role of Anganwadi centres. The administration aims to reduce malnutrition in the district through collective efforts and ensure better health and nutrition of every child.
