The path has been cleared for Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya's return to ODI cricket. He has been included in the India A squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia A to be held in Puducherry. However, his playing will depend on fitness clearance. Hardik last took the field in IPL 2026 and since then he is undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Devdutt Padikkal will captain the team in multi-day matches, while Sai Sudarshan will be the vice-captain. At the same time, the command of the ODI team has been handed over to Rituraj Gaikwad and Devdutt Padikkal will play the role of vice-captain. Let us tell you that the first two four-day unofficial Test matches will be played in Puducherry. The first Test will be held from 22 to 25 September, while the second match will be played from 29 September to 2 October. After this there will be three ODI matches, which will be played on 6, 9 and 11 October.
Important comeback for 2027 World Cup
Hardik Pandya is considered an important part of India's ODI team. He had taken rest from ODI cricket before the T20 World Cup 2026 but after the tournament, he again joined India's 50-over plans. Now his eyes are on the ODI World Cup to be held in 2027. The series against Australia A will be a big opportunity for Hardik to regain his rhythm in ODI cricket. As a fast-bowling all-rounder, he can play an important role in India's World Cup strategy, especially considering the South African conditions.
