Rae Bareli. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of bad roads in Rae Bareli in the Disha Committee meeting on Wednesday. During the meeting, he showed pictures of potholes on the roads to the officials and asked why action had not been taken on them till now? Rahul Gandhi said that common people are facing problems due to the poor condition of roads.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi took out his phone from his pocket and showed a picture to Yogi's minister. Even the minister was stunned after seeing the picture. He also asked questions to the officers present. But, no one had any answer. Actually, this picture was of the road from Dariba to Kathghar road built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in Rae Bareli, whose condition is completely dilapidated.

He showed the broken roads on his mobile to Cabinet Minister Manoj Pandey in the meeting. Seeing this, even the minister was surprised for a minute. At the same time, after showing printed out pictures of dilapidated roads and potholes, PWD officials and DM were asked why the condition of the roads is like this? He said that when the government is giving funds then why is the work not being done? what are you guys doing?

Let us tell you, the road whose picture Rahul Gandhi was showing is of Dariba to Kathghar road built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in Rae Bareli, which has fallen victim to corruption. After just a few years of construction, this road has become completely dilapidated. Pedestrians have to face a lot of problems every day on roads full of potholes. Vehicles get stuck in potholes, leading to long traffic jams. Thousands of people pass through this route every day. Passersby have made serious allegations of corruption against the contractor.

He emphasized on fixing the accountability of the officers of the concerned departments and directed to start the road repair work immediately. Road safety and maintenance of roads were also discussed in the Disha Committee meeting. Rahul Gandhi asked the officials to submit the report soon, so that the condition of the roads and the progress of repair work can be reviewed.

Today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, 21,92,000 people are getting 5 kg free ration in Rae Bareli district alone. The Prime Minister was thanked for this. Talking about the condition of roads, he expressed happiness that in the last 5 years, about 16,000 small and big roads have been constructed in Rae Bareli district alone. In the meeting, the ground reality of the public welfare schemes of the Central Government and their implementation was reviewed, due to which the common citizens of the district are getting direct benefits.
