Umang App UAN Activation Feature: There is news of great relief for the members of Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). Now employees will not need to visit the employer or EPFO ​​office to get a new UAN, activate the old UAN and verify the identity. This facility is now available on mobile through UMANG app. Members can complete this process themselves with the help of Aadhaar based face authentication.

Making UAN became easier

If an employee does not already have a UAN, he can create a new UAN by selecting the ‘UAN Allotment and Activation’ option in the UMANG app. For this, Aadhaar number and mobile number will have to be entered. Verification will be done by OTP received on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar. After this the system will check whether a UAN already exists or not. If no old UAN is found, face authentication will be done. For this, Aadhaar Face RD app will be required in the mobile. After face verification, a new UAN will be generated and information about it will be received through SMS.

If you already have UAN, activate it like this

• Employees whose UAN is created but not yet activated can also use the UMANG app.
• After entering UAN, Aadhaar and mobile number in the ‘UAN Activation’ option, OTP verification will have to be done.
• After this, after completion of face authentication, UAN will become active.
• A temporary password will also be sent to the member on his registered mobile number.

Members with active UAN can also do face authentication

Members already having active UAN can also do face authentication through UMANG app. This will help in verifying their identity and keeping the information updated in EPFO ​​records.

Many facilities will be available after UAN activation

UAN remains the same even after changing jobs and helps in linking different PF accounts to a single identity. After activation, members can check EPF balance, download passbook, know claim status and manage KYC services.
