Defending champion Carlos Alcarez bows out of the US Open. American player Ben Shelton defeated him 6-7, 6-1, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 in the men’s quarter-finals at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. Earlier, Frances Tiafoe defeated Alex Michelson in 5 sets to reach the semi-finals of the US Open for the third time. Now Tiafoe will face his countryman Shelton in the semi-finals.

Among the women, Sabalenka is in the semifinals for the sixth time in a row

In women’s singles, American player Jessica Pegula defeated her countryman Emma Navarro 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals of the US Open for the third year in a row. While world number-1 women’s player Aryana Sabalenka beat Linda Noskova 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 to reach the last-four for the sixth time in a row. Sabalenka got a strong match in this match.

Ben Shelton defeated defending champion Carlos Alcarez to advance to the semifinals. Shelton made a brilliant comeback after losing the first set in a tiebreaker and won the deciding set in a tiebreaker in a match that lasted 4 hours and 28 minutes.
