Omari Hutchinson has said Ruben Amorim played a key role in bringing him to Milan, explaining that the Rossoneri head coach was convinced after watching him play against Manchester United.

The 22-year-old was officially unveiled as a new Milan player at the club’s Flagship Store on Via Dante in Milan.

When asked how the chance to join Milan first emerged, Hutchinson said: “The manager wanted me, I think he spoke to the people above, they were very interested as well.

“It was kind of easy, because I played against him for the United game, I think he was really impressed with me. He said they needed a player for that position who was left-footed and I fit the criteria, so it wasn’t too hard.”

Hutchinson also spoke about the goal he scored against Amorim’s team, with his additional comments translated from Italian source MilanNews.it.

“Yes, I remember the goal. As I said before, in my first game against Amorim I did well. He said I impressed him and I think that is very important. Since I arrived, he has helped me a lot and speaks to me often. He has been really exceptional with me.”

The former Arsenal and Chelsea prospect was then asked if he prefers finding the net or setting up team-mates.

“It depends. Sometimes I like making assists, it gives me joy, but scoring also gives me confidence. So I would say both. You need to do both: to become a better player, you have to be able to do everything, so I try to do it as much as possible.”
