Major rivers like Ganga, Kosi and Gandak are in spate in Bihar, due to which the flood situation remains serious in 14 districts of the state. More than 40 lakh people are said to be affected due to the flood. At the same time, due to continuous rains in Uttar Pradesh, the water level of rivers has increased and about 4 lakh people in 26 districts are in the grip of floods.

More than 5 thousand schools closed in Bihar

In Bihar, the maximum impact of floods is being seen in rural areas and areas situated on river banks. Water has entered many villages, affecting people's lives. Due to floods, more than 5 thousand schools in the state had to be closed. At many places, school buildings have been flooded, due to which children's education is being affected. The administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations in many districts including Patna, Munger and Bhagalpur. People from low-lying areas are being evacuated to safe places. NDRF and SDRF teams are continuously deployed in the affected areas.

More than 500 cremation grounds submerged in water

The flood has also affected the important arrangements of people like funeral rites. More than 500 cremation grounds built on the banks of Ganga, Kosi and Gandak rivers have been submerged in water. Due to this, people are facing a lot of trouble in performing the last rites of the dead. In many places, people are forced to perform the last rites at higher places or at alternative places. Efforts are being made by the administration to make alternative arrangements.

Flood crisis increases in UP also

Due to continuous rains in Uttar Pradesh, many rivers have reached near the danger mark. About 4 lakh people have been affected by the floods in 26 districts of the state. Many villages have been flooded and people are being shifted to safer places. Due to the rise in the water level of Ramganga river in Bareilly, an ancient temple got submerged in the river. At the same time, due to the rising water of Saryu river in Barabanki, about 12 houses have been submerged. The villagers are facing a lot of difficulties.

Relief from rain in MP and Rajasthan

At present the rainy season has slowed down in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh for the next three days. This is expected to speed up the relief work in the flood affected areas. The weather has changed in Rajasthan also. It is predicted that rain will start again from September 11. However, on Wednesday, temperatures were recorded above 35 degrees Celsius in 10 cities of the state, due to which the effect of heat continued. According to the Meteorological Department, rain may become active again in some states in the coming days. In such a situation, the administration has advised the people living on the river banks to be alert.
