5Azam Khan Case: The troubles of senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan seem to be increasing once again. Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Foundation has registered an FIR in the case of sale of about 60 thousand square feet of land of Lucknow Haj Committee to a private builder. It is alleged that the land deal was done without following the rules and prescribed procedure of the Haj Committee, causing a loss of revenue of more than Rs 2 crore 8 lakh to the government. Apart from Azam Khan, the then secretary of Haj Committee Laiq Ahmed, Dr. MAA Khan, Amish Developers owner Mohammad Ayub and Mustaqeem Ahmed have been made accused in this case. FIR has been registered in Lucknow Sector Police Station.

The case started with the deal of 60 thousand square feet land

In the case filed by Vigilance, it has been alleged that about 60 thousand square feet of land of Lucknow Haj Committee was sold to Amish developers. According to the investigating agency, the terms and conditions of the State Haj Committee were ignored in this deal. Since the land is considered to be government property, non-following of the prescribed procedure in its transfer is being seen as a serious irregularity. On this basis, Vigilance has registered a case under sections to fraud, criminal conspiracy and corruption.

FIR against five people including Azam Khan

The number of the FIR registered in Lucknow Sector Police Station of Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Establishment is 0018. The complaint has been lodged by Vigilance Inspector Dhruv Chandra Maurya. The FIR was registered on September 8 at around quarter to three in the afternoon. A total of five people have been made accused in the case. Among them, Azam Khan was the chairman of the State Haj Committee at that time. Laiq Ahmed and Dr. MAA Khan were the then secretaries of Haj Committee and both have retired. Mohammad Ayub is said to be the owner of Amish Developers. Mustaqeem Ahmed’s name is registered as the fifth accused.

Under which sections was the case registered?

Sections 7, 12, 13(1)(B) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 along with sections 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code have been imposed in the FIR. That means, allegations to fraud, criminal conspiracy and corruption have been included in the case. According to Vigilance allegations, terms and conditions were ignored in the land deal, resulting in a revenue loss of more than Rs 2 crore 8 lakh to the government exchequer. Now during the investigation, the documents to the land deal and the entire process will be examined.

Azam Khan has been punished in many cases before also

Azam Khan has already been punished by the court in many cases. On February 13, 2023, the MP-MLA Special Court of Moradabad had sentenced Azam Khan and his son Abdullah to two years imprisonment in the case of blocking the highway in Chhajlat. After this Abdullah lost his MLA. On October 27, 2022, Azam Khan was sentenced to three years in prison in the case of inflammatory speech registered at Milak Kotwali. In the case of inflammatory speech registered in Shahzadnagar police station on July 15, 2023, he was sentenced to two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,500.

Two birth certificates and also punishment in Dungarpur case

On October 18, 2023, Azam Khan, his wife Dr. Tazeen Fatma and son Abdullah were sentenced to seven years each in the two birth certificate case. After this, on March 18, 2024, Azam Khan was sentenced to seven years imprisonment in another case to the Dungarpur incident. On May 16, 2026, in the case of inflammatory speech, the MP-MLA Special Court Magistrate Trial had sentenced Azam Khan to two years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000. In this case, he was accused of making objectionable remarks about the DM and making statements regarding cleaning shoes. On November 17, 2025, the MP-MLA Special Court had sentenced Azam Khan and Abdullah to seven years imprisonment each in two PAN card cases. On Saturday, the MP-MLA Special Court (Session Trial) gave its verdict on the appeal filed to increase this sentence, in which it has come to light that Azam Khan’s sentence should be increased for 10 years.
