HP OmniBook 5 Review: Intel Core Ultra AI PC launched with 14-inch 2K OLED display and strong battery life
Design, display and portability
HP OmniBook 5 is designed with metal finish and premium build quality. Its weight is only 1.33 kg and thickness is 13.6 mm, due to which it can be easily carried in a bag. It has a backlit keyboard with 1.3mm key travel and a large touchpad. For connectivity, the device has Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, USB-A and HDMI ports.
Talking about visuals, it has a 14-inch 2K OLED display, whose screen-to-body ratio is 91%. This display gives accurate color reproduction, which is suitable for photo-video editing and media consumption.
Performance, AI features and gaming capabilities
The laptop has an Intel Core Ultra 7 355 processor, whose clock speed is 2.30 GHz. Its integrated NPU generates up to 49 TOPS of AI performance. To make multitasking smooth, software features like HP Smart Screen, Task Group and Screen Shift have been included in it. To improve the video calling experience, the FHD IR camera is provided with HDR and temporal noise reduction.
The company has designed it according to casual gaming and daily workload. During testing, it showed stable performance on games like GTA 5, Fall Guys and PUBG, although slight heating could be recorded in the device during heavy 4K video editing or sustained high-end gaming.
Banner-level battery backup and charging speed
Special care has been taken of power management in the laptop. According to official figures, it is capable of providing up to 21.5 hours of local video playback. A 59W USB-C GaN charger is available with it, which recharges the battery up to 50% in 30 minutes of charging.
Flaws and our decision
With a starting price of ₹1,24,999, it may prove expensive for budget segment customers. Its built-in speakers are enough for media streaming, but heavy audio output will require headphones or external speakers. If your priority isn't extremely heavy gaming, it's a strong contender in this price bracket in terms of AI features, battery, and display.
