Tezzbuzz Desk- Before the beginning of the festive season in the country, smartphone companies and retailers have intensified their preparations. In view of the increasing needs of customers and festive sales, companies are increasing the recruitment of temporary and seasonal employees.

According to staffing sector data, about 39,600 seasonal jobs to smartphone retail are expected to be created in the festive season of 2026. This figure may be about 34 percent more than last year.

More than 36 percent jump in recruitment between January and August

According to the report of The Economic Times, data from Quess Staffing Solutions has shown a huge increase in the pace of recruitment in the smartphone retail sector. Recruitment between January and August 2026 increased by 36.3 percent compared to the same period last year. Hiring levels reached an all-time high monthly level in August. It is estimated that around 39,600 seasonal employees will be required during the festive season from July to December.

Companies are starting recruitment 12-14 weeks in advance

This time smartphone brands are already starting preparations for the festive season. Instead of hiring staff at the last minute, companies are assessing staffing needs about 12 to 14 weeks before the season. There is a special focus on recruitment for retail stores, field sales and direct customer-facing roles. It is also expected that seasonal recruitment will increase by 12 to 15 percent during the festive season.

Expensive smartphones increase the need for sales staff

The increase in smartphone prices may affect the purchasing power of customers. In such a situation, it has become more important for companies to explain things to customers in a better way and prepare them for purchase. The need for employees to provide product demos, feature information and explain finance options at stores is increasing. Companies are especially emphasizing on such staff who can help customers choose the right model.

Employment opportunities are also increasing in e-commerce and logistics

The benefits of the festive season are not limited to just the smartphone retail sector. E-commerce and logistics companies are also recruiting temporary employees on a large scale in view of festive sales. According to the report, one platform is targeting to create more than 10 lakh seasonal jobs this season for its seller network and logistics system alone.

There may be more recruitment in these areas

Instead of recruiting at the same level everywhere, smartphone companies are focusing more on those cities, markets and areas where sales are likely to be higher during the festive season. However, the pace of recruitment in the smartphone sector may be slightly lower than the broader sector of electronics and consumer durables. The main reason for this is the sharp increase in smartphone prices and possible pressure on sales. Nevertheless, the increasing need of companies during the festive season is expected to create new opportunities for temporary employment for people associated with retail, sales, demo and logistics.
