One such case involved a passenger being robbed while traveling by train. The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) ordered the Railways to pay compensation to the passengers involved.

In this case, the passengers claimed ₹59,725 for their stolen belongings. However, as they failed to provide evidence regarding the actual value of the stolen items to the Commission, the claim for that specific amount was not approved. The Commission subsequently delivered its verdict after considering all aspects of the case.

A passenger was traveling with his daughter when robbers entered their reserved coach. According to the passengers, the robbers were armed and proceeded to rob them. The Railways offered a clarification regarding the incident.

The Commission acknowledged a deficiency in service on the part of the Railways and ordered them to pay ₹20,000 in compensation to the passengers. Furthermore, it directed that 6% interest be paid on this amount.

According to reports, the incident took place on the Awadh-Assam Express. The passenger and their daughter were traveling on this train when armed robbers suddenly boarded and carried out the robbery. Although the incident dates back to August 2004, the passengers alleged that neither a coach attendant nor a security guard was present on the train at the time of the robbery.
