Stock Market: The Indian stock market finally saw a rally on Thursday, September 10, after heavy ups and downs. BSE The Sensex closed up 138.36 points, or 0.19 per cent, at 74,902.59, while NSE The Nifty closed up 46.30 points, or 0.20 per cent, at 23,477.80. Thus, the market has got some relief after the heavy fall of the previous day.

Throughout the day there was a huge ups and downs in the market

The September 10 session saw market volatility right from the start. US-Iran tensions and rising crude oil prices kept investors cautious. However, during the final closing auction session, the index saw a sudden sharp bounce and finally the market closed with a small gain.

1,872 shares advanced, 2,272 shares declined

Talking about the overall trend of the market, about 1,872 stocks closed higher while 2,272 stocks closed lower. No significant change was seen in 155 stocks. That is, despite the Sensex-Nifty closing in the green, the market breadth remained weak.

These shares were the top gainers

HDFC Life, Power Grid Corporation, ONGC, Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra were among the top gainers on the Nifty. ONGC particularly benefited from higher crude oil prices and the shares saw buying.

Crude oil still a big risk for the market

Crude oil is trading above $100 a barrel due to rising US-Iran tensions in the Middle East. At one point, crude oil touched around $102. India imports a large amount of crude oil, so higher oil prices could add pressure on inflation, the rupee and corporate earnings.

A day ago Sensex had broken 813 points

On September 9, there was a heavy sell-off in the Indian stock market. The Sensex fell 813.35 points to close at 74,764.23 and the Nifty fell 203.60 points to 23,431.50. This level was a three-month low for the Nifty. In such a situation, the small rise on September 10 is being seen as a relief for the market.
