Led by reigning Paralympic champion Harvinder Singh and world number one archer Sheetal Devi, India ended the third phase of the World Archery Para Series with two gold and four bronze medals on the final day on Wednesday.
Reigning world champion Sheetal won gold in the para compound women’s individual category, while Harvinder, who has won two medals in the Paralympics, also won the yellow medal in the para recurve mixed team event with Bhavana. In the recurve mixed team final, Harvinder and Bhavana defeated Liang Qiurong and Xia Lei of China 6-0.
Bhavana won the bronze medal by defeating Rajshree Rathod 6-0 in the recurve women’s playoff. Sheetal defeated Aizada Sedan of Kazakhstan in the shoot-off in the women’s compound individual final. Sheetal had earlier also won a bronze medal in the compound mixed team with Toman Kumar.
They defeated Iraq’s Sara Al Hamid and Abbas Kadhim 157-145. India also won bronze in the para compound women’s individual category. In this, Sarita defeated China’s Wang Huiting by 141-140. Toman won the bronze medal in the compound individual category by defeating current world champion Abbas Kadhim of Iraq 143-138.
