Business Desk – Crude Oil Price Today: The effect of increasing tension between America and Iran is now clearly visible on the Global Oil Market. Crude oil prices in the international market have reached the highest level in a month.

By 6.20 am on Thursday, September 10, 2026, the price of Brent Crude reached $ 101.360 per barrel and WTI Crude reached $ 96.686 per barrel. In the last one month, crude oil has increased by about 14 to 16%. In such a situation, questions are also being raised regarding the prices of petrol and diesel in India.

At present there is no change in the prices of petrol and diesel in the domestic market. But if crude oil prices in the international market remain high for a long time, then the pressure of fuel becoming expensive may increase in India too. Its impact will not only be limited to the cost of running a vehicle, but can also affect the prices of everyday items.

Why is Crude Oil increasing due to Middle East Tension?

The biggest reason for this rise in crude oil prices is the increasing tension between America and Iran. Due to increasing conflict between the two countries, there is a danger of Oil Supply Disruption. Iran has warned Washington that if attacks on its territory continue, it may increase its action further.

On the other hand, Iran is continuously opposing the blockade imposed by America. This has increased the fear in the market that the supply of crude oil from West Asia may be affected. Attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia have also increased regional tensions.

US President Donald Trump claims that the war will end by November 2026. If the tension ends soon then the supply pressure may reduce and oil prices may also get relief. But if the conflict prolongs, there is a possibility of further rise in prices.

Will petrol and diesel be expensive in India now?

There is no direct answer to this right now. There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel in India on September 10. In New Delhi, petrol is Rs 102.12 and diesel is Rs 95.20 per liter. In Mumbai, petrol is priced at Rs 111.21 and diesel at Rs 97.83, while in Kolkata petrol is priced at Rs 113.51 and diesel at Rs 99.82 per litre. Petrol in Chennai is Rs 107.78 and diesel is Rs 99.56 per liter. That is, despite oil becoming expensive in the international market, its full impact has not reached Indian consumers. State-owned oil companies take into account a number of economic and market conditions before changing domestic prices.

What will happen if Crude remains expensive for a long time?

If Brent Crude remains above $100 for a long time, problems may increase for India. India imports a large part of its oil needs. Therefore, when crude becomes expensive in the international market, the country's import bill increases. Apart from this, if the value of rupee weakens against the dollar during this period, then the import of crude oil may become more expensive. In such a situation, the costs of oil companies will increase and there may be pressure to increase the prices of petrol and diesel.

What will be the impact if petrol and diesel become expensive?

The cost of fuel first impacts transport. Increase in diesel price may increase freight and transportation costs. This may affect the prices of fruits, vegetables, grains and other everyday items. Apart from this, the cost of plastic, paint and chemical products to petroleum may also be affected. That is, if petrol and diesel remain expensive for a long time, it can directly impact the household budget.

What to understand now?

At present, the prices of petrol and diesel are stable and there has been no indication from the government of increasing the prices immediately. But Brent Crude crossing 100 dollars is a matter of concern.

Now the focus will be on how long the US-Iran tension lasts and at what level crude oil remains in the international market. If the oil boom continues for a long time, then only the pressure of petrol and diesel becoming expensive in India can increase further.
