Manchester United youngster JJ Gabriel has carried on from where he finished last season.
Fifteen-year-old wonderkid JJ Gabriel announced himself on the European stage with a hat-trick on his UEFA Youth League debut against Sabah FK U19, as they were thrashed 5-0 at Leigh Sports Village.
The forward struck three times to lead Manchester United’s youth team to victory, once again highlighting why he is regarded as one of the standout prospects in the Carrington academy.
Gabriel’s rapid rise has prompted talk over whether he could feature for Manchester United’s senior side in the Premier League this season.
Premier League rules state that a player must have turned 15 on or before August 31 in a particular season to be eligible for selection.
Having satisfied the league’s academic-year age requirement before the start of the 2026/27 campaign, Gabriel is now legally eligible to make his Premier League debut this term, unlike last season.
If manager Michael Carrick gives him his senior debut before he turns 16 in October, Gabriel would become Manchester United’s youngest-ever first-team player.
Carrick has been monitoring the teenager closely and has regularly included him in first-team training. Speaking about Gabriel’s progress last season, the Red Devils manager said: "JJ is a big talent, it's pretty obvious to know that and he's had a really good season for the Under-18s.

"We obviously think an awful lot of him, but patience is important in managing everything that comes with that and working with him in development as we do with all the different younger players and picking the right moment to step up."
Gabriel’s latest scoring exploits add to outstanding numbers at youth level. The attacker scored 28 goals in 35 appearances for Manchester United’s Under-18 side last season.
After stepping up to the Under-21s in Premier League 2 this term, Gabriel made an immediate impact with two goals and two assists in his first two matches before carrying that goalscoring touch into Europe.
