Apple has had a busy night announcing prices of the new iPhone 18 and its first foldable phone- the iPhone Duo. The prices of the latter has left many shocked- Rs 4.50 lakh for the range-topping 2TB variant. More importantly, it puts the phone in interesting company. With that kind of money, you could buy several new cars or some very popular adventure tourer or sports motorcycles. Here is more about what you could possibly buy for the price of Apple’s most expensive iPhone.

4.50 lakh rupees is not a small amount. The pricing has already sparked discussions on social media. There are several cars that are cheaper than an iphone Duo. Popular models like the Maruti S-Presso and Renault Kwid are all examples.

The S-Presso, is in fact, the cheapest car that you can buy in India. It starts at Rs 3.49 lakh to Rs 5.27 lakh, ex-showroom. For roughly the price of an iPhone Duo, you will get a mid-spec S-Presso. It is quite popular in India, due to its unique styling and the frugal 1.0-litre K10C petrol engine.

The Alto K10 is another car that comes cheaper than the iPhone Duo. It starts at Rs 3.70 lakh, ex-showroom. The top-end variant costs Rs 5.45 lakh, ex-showroom. The lower and mid variants are cheaper than the iPhone. The K10 is also powered by the 1.0-litre K-Series engine, known for its fuel efficiency and reliability.

You can also buy a base-spec Renault Kwid for roughly the same price as the iPhone Duo. It has a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 4.53 lakh. Dealer-level benefits may bring the entry prices further down. The Kwid competes with the S-Presso and Alto K10 in our market.

Now let’s look at some options that aren’t really cheaper but sit in roughly the same ballpark as the iPhone Duo. The Tata Tiago has a starting price of Rs 4.70 lakh- just Rs 20,000 more. It comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.

The Maruti Celerio is another example. It has a starting price of Rs 4.69 lakh, ex-showroom. It is available with a 1.0-litre petrol engine. A CNG option is also available, at a higher price point. The base variant has the naturally aspirated petrol engine.

If buying a car is not your priority, the Rs 4.49 lakh iPhone Duo budget opens up plenty of options in the adventure motorcycle space. In fact, you could buy one of these and still have money left over.

The TVS Apache RTX 300 is one of the most attractive options. Its ex-showroom prices fall in the Rs 1.99 lakh- Rs 2.39 lakh bracket. Even the top-spec variant costs only a little over half the price of the 2TB iPhone Duo. The RTX strikes a fine balance between touring ability and off-road capability, and has already found a lot of buyers in the country. Powering it is a 299cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine making 36hp and 28Nm.

The KTM 390 Adventure starts at Rs 2.87 lakh (ex-showroom), while the S variant is priced up to Rs 4.04 lakh. That means even the more expensive variant remains within the iPhone Duo’s budget. The KTM Adventure comes with a 349cc single-cylinder engine producing 41hp and 33Nm.

The recently-launched Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is another option . It is priced from Rs 2.29 lakh, ex-showroom and is powered by a 443cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine. Even the more advanced, and more fun-to-ride Himalayan 450 stands within this phone’s budget. It is priced from Rs 3.08 lakh, ex-showroom.

You can also buy multiple units of smaller capacity ADV models like the Hero XPulse 210 and Kawasaki KLX 230 for the money you would otherwise put on this phone. Commuters and other less expensive motorcycles are not even part of this conversation. We will limit the scope of this discussion to motorcycles that sit in the vicinity of Rs 4.50 lakh, with their ex-showroom prices.

Yes, you can buy various 650cc Royal Enfield motorcycles within this budget. The Interceptor 650, for example, has a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 3.37 lakh. Even the Super Meteor starts at Rs 4.05 lakh, ex-showroom. Sportsbikes like the Aprilia RS 457 can also be bought within this price range.

Many of you would already have this question in mind. Well, this phone is Apple’s foldable flagship and comes with a 7.6-inch inner display, a titanium frame and the company’s A20 Pro chipset.
