Duleep Trophy Final: In Duleep Trophy 2026, East Zone performed brilliantly and won the title for the third time. M.A. Chennai In the final played at Chidambaram Stadium (MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai), the team captained by Ishan Kishan ended the wait of 13 years. East Zone last won the Duleep Trophy in 2012–13. Before this, the team had also won the title in 2011-12. With this victory, East Zone now has three Duleep Trophy titles to its name.

In the Duleep Trophy final, East Zone won the toss and decided to bat first. The team scored a huge score of 708 runs in the first innings. Captain Ishan Kishan laid the foundation of the team's victory with the bat and played a brilliant inning of 270 runs in 334 balls. His innings included 30 fours and 7 sixes.

Apart from Ishaan, Kumar Kushagra scored 101 runs. Shikhar Mohan contributed 85 runs, Abhimanyu Easwaran 72, Anukul Roy 45, Vaibhav Suryavanshi 44 and Kunin Qureshi contributed 40 runs. For South Zone, Tripurana Vijay took 4 wickets, while Chama Milind and Shreyas Gopal got 2 wickets each.

South Zone was reduced to 336 runs

In reply to 708 runs, South Zone's first innings ended at 336 runs. Captain Tilak Verma missed a century after scoring 99 runs. Devdutt Padikkal scored 62 runs and Chama Milind scored 43 runs. Narayan Jagadeesan added 32 runs, Sheikh Rashid added 27 runs, Smaran Ravichandran added 23 runs and Shreyas Gopal added 26 runs. Mukesh Kumar took 3 wickets from East Zone. Mohammed Shami, Kuneen Qureshi and Shikhar Mohan got 2-2 wickets. On the basis of first innings, East Zone got a big lead of 372 runs.

East Zone did not have a good start in the second innings. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was out after scoring 8 runs and Abhimanyu Easwaran was out after scoring just 3 runs. After this Shikhar Mohan played an inning of 52 runs. Captain Ishan Kishan once again batted brilliantly and scored 80 runs in 98 balls. Kumar Kushagra contributed 46 runs.

Whereas Kunin Qureshi scored unbeaten 116 and Anukul Roy scored 64 runs. East Zone declared their second innings in a strong position and set a huge target for South Zone. Ishan Kishan did wonders with the bat in the final. He scored a total of 350 runs in both the innings. His innings of 270 runs in the first innings and 80 runs in the second innings became the biggest reason for East Zone's title win.

East Zone became champion again after 13 years

This victory is also special for East Zone because the team had to wait 13 years to win the Duleep Trophy. The team became champions for the first time in 2026 after winning two consecutive titles in 2011–12 and 2012–13. With this victory under the captaincy of Ishan Kishan, East Zone registered its third title in the history of Duleep Trophy.
